About Michigan Vacation Rentals
The experience of enjoying our
Michigan vacation rentals varies depending on the season. The State of Michigan has nice hot summers, mild springs, and colorful autumns.
The winter is fairly extreme in terms of temperature, but is not nearly as snowy as some other northern states. This makes it a good winter destination for those who like cross-country skiing, ice fishing, and snowmobiling. Warm-weather lovers will find June, July, and August to be excellent times to book a Michigan vacation rental.
Many of the local names in Michigan come from its original inhabitants; the name “Michigan” itself is from a French version of the name “mishigama,” which means “large lake.” Lakes are indeed an extremely prominent feature of the state. It’s bordered by four Great Lakes and another huge lake. In its interior, thousands of small lakes pepper the landscape. Needless to say, water sports are one of the favorite pastimes of locals.
Those seeking more-populated areas will find plenty to do and see in Michigan’s many cities and towns. The biggest city, Detroit, has many cultural destinations like the Detroit Institute of Arts and the Fox Theater. The city of Novi, in the Metropolitan Detroit area, is great for shopping and is home to many midrange and high-end stores. For a taste of history and old-fashioned atmosphere, Mackinac Island is a must-see. Its local ban on cars sends you straight back to a world where horses and bikes are the only “fast transportation.” Whatever experience you seek, Michigan has an area that provides it.
