Things To Do
Kaneohe Bay is somewhat sheltered by offshore reefs and is an ideal place for watersports from snorkeling and bodyboarding to kayaking and stand up paddling. Kualoa Beach Park at the north end of the bay has plenty of shade and a large grass lawn, a great place to enjoy the Hawaii day.
The Koolau Golf Club in Kaneohe is considered one of Hawaii's top courses and has been named as the toughest course in the nation from the back tees. Don't let that deter you, however, as the challenging play is complemented by stunning views including the tropical surroundings, winding ravines, cascading waterfalls and the majestic Koolau mountains.
Eat and Shop
Kaneohe town offers a variety of interesting shops as well as restaurants from fast food to fine dining. Temple Valley's Chinese Restaurant is a local favorite located in the Koolau Center.
Dean's Drive Inn is another Kaneohe favorite among those in the know who appreciate the reasonable prices as well as the great food like their Ahi Cakes with sweet chili beurre blanc sauce, deep sea Kaku (barracuda), Teriyaki Beef and Rack of Lamb (make sure and get the mint jelly). More interesting shopping and exceptional dining can be found in nearby Kailua town.
Getting Around
A rental car is recommended when staying in Kaneohe luxury rentals allowing you to explore the the windward side's great beaches as well as Oahu's many other attractions from
Haleiwa on the north shore to
Waikiki on the southern coast
