Getting Around

Most of Maui's major towns can also be reached on the island's public bus system which operates daily.Kahului Airport is located about twelve miles from Kihei.

History

Kihei has a rich history extending to ancient times when this region was the location of small Hawaiian villages and coastal fishponds.When the sugarcane industry began in the 1800s in the Hawaiian Islands the early attempts at growing sugarcane in Kihei failed due to the arid landscape.
