About Waikoloa Village Vacation Rentals

Our Waikoloa Village vacation rentals provide the perfect island retreat for a relaxing and luxurious Hawaii vacation. Exceptional beaches, championship golf courses and posh resorts are all complemented by this region's ideal weather and scenic views.

Things To Do
The Kohala Coast region offers a variety of activities from hikes to sunset sails, snorkeling and scuba diving, championship golf courses and luxurious spa treatments. During the winter months humpback whales can be seen passing by offshore, or see them up close on a whale watching and snorkeling cruise. The waters off the Big Island's western coast are also one of the world's best sport fishing destinations with a chance to catch prized big game fish like swordfish and marlin. Golfers will enjoy the Waikoloa Beach Course and Waikoloa King's Course with sweeping ocean views and emerald greens set amidst the black lava.

Nearby Beaches
There are numerous excellent beaches in this region including a lovely crescent of sand and typically calm water at Mauna Kea Beach, also referred to as Kaunaoa Beach. Hapuna Beach is another white sand beach that is a great place to enjoy ocean activities, with picnic facilities as well as restrooms. Anaehoomalu Bay is a great place to go ocean kayaking or snorkeling, and is also the site of a historic Hawaiian fishpond. Snorkeling is also good at Holoholokai Beach where you can also explore tidepools and take a short hike to the Puako Petroglyph Archaeological Preserve to see the ancient carvings in the rocks.

Restaurants
There are many great places to eat in this area including Banjy's Paradise Bar & Grill which serves up delicious pizzas as well as steaks and seafood, including delicious fish tacos. Stop in at Waikoloa Village Market to stock up on supplies for your adventures. More dining options can also be found at other resort areas along the Kohala Coast as well as to the north in Waimea town, Hawi and Kapaau, and to the south along the Kona Coast.

Shopping
Upscale boutique shopping can be found at the King's Shops in Waikoloa and in the other Kohala Coast resort areas as well as the posh resorts along the Kona Coast. More fun shopping can be found in the North Kohala towns of Hawi and Kapaau as well as Waimea town, and to the south in historic Kailua village where there are many interesting shops to explore as well as an abundance of art galleries.

Getting Around
Renting a car is recommended when staying in Waikoloa vacation rentals so you have easy access to nearby beaches and attractions and also day trips to the Kona Coast and historic Kailua Village as well as the Hamakua Coast, Hilo town and Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. The island's bus service, called Hele On Bus, is free and stops at various points around the island including transportation between Kona and Hilo every day except Sunday.

Weather and Ocean Conditions
The Waikoloa area of the Kohala Coast is known for its days and stable weather throughout the year. Both the Kohala and Kona coastlines on the Big Island's western shore are the warmest and driest areas of the island while Hilo on the northeast shore receives more rainfall. Expect average daily temperatures around 80 degrees F., perhaps a bit hotter in the summer and a bit cooler in the winter, with nighttime temperatures dropping about 15 degrees. Ocean conditions vary widely at Big Island beaches with many areas exposed to strong currents and potentially dangerous surf, particularly during the winter months. Numerous beaches provide good protection from the open ocean and provide safe areas for swimming and snorkeling. Visitors are urged to only visit lifeguarded beaches for water activities and heed all posted warnings. Check with lifeguards about the safest areas to participate in the activities you choose.
