We enjoyed our stay very much. The house was perfect for our family. My only comment would be that there wasn't enough paper products, toilet paper, paper towels. With the price of the house, we should not have to run to the store for that. But otherwise it was an amazing place to stay and with four kids it couldn't have been better. We would stay there again. Thank you.

Good rental property, excellent agent. Fantastic location on Kailua beach. Somewhat dated, no WIFI or hot tub as advertised on but this does not take away from the great view when one wakes up. Lack of A/C is also not a problem as there is a constant breeze from the ocean. Really enjoyed our stay and definitely would recommend to a friend.

Spactacular House! The house is very comfortable and had everything we needed for a family of 7. We arrived on Christmas day. Uta was so sweet and helpful. She was in contact several times throughout our 10 day stay, and always available when we had questions or tips for great restaurants. We loved Kailua town! It has a great casual feel and everyone was very nice. The beach was one of our favorite parts of the trip. Unspoiled, uncrowded beauty. We celebrated some great milestones besides the holidays... our Granddaughter celebrated her 3rdto birthday, and our Daughter got married in a beautiful simple ceremony on the breathtaking back lawn. We would highly reccomend this rental and are already planning our return!
We loved this home. It is a mid-century classic home in an ideal location. The home is obviously well cared for and was very clean when we arrived. The property manager had even left a welcome note and fresh fruit for us upon our arrival. Our four teenagers all had a room with private bath and couldnt get enough of the pool, ocean/boogie-boarding and having a toss on the lawn. We prepared family meals each night and had the most relaxing time with family. I would book this property again and have told many friends about our stay in a home, rather than hotel, while in Hawaii. The only problems we had were that the washing machine was out of order when we arrived and it took 3 days (on "island time"!) to get it fixed. By then we were down to the last pair of underwear and really needed it! Also, the kitchen sink leaked and we had to call to have it checked out. The house was built in the 1930's, we were told, so you can imagine how much work it is to keep it in tip top shape on the ocean and with the wind. When they say Kailua is on the "windward" side of the island, they are not kidding. We experienced storm-velocity winds every day all day. It was never cold (we were there in July) but there was always a strong breeze, which kept the house cool at all times. We had family photos taken during our stay and all our hair is crazy-looking because of the wind whipping through the entire time. Love Hale O Ke Kai - wish we never had to leave.

The rental was beautiful, right on the beach, with a gorgeous lawn all the way to the sand. The house could be considered slightly dated because of details in the kitchen and baths, but it is actually very elegant and makes you feel very comfortable. It is very large, with four bedrooms and four full bathrooms and a big swimming pool. The beds are big and comfortable, there is new paint throughout and the furniture is beautiful. We used every sitting area at different times of day, but beware of the wind. Being on the windward side, the wind blows constantly but also prevents you from feeling too hot. Service was excellent, Uta and Verena did everything they could possibly have done to make us feel comfortable. We were in ongoing contact via text and I was able to ask all kinds of questions. Overall, the experience was excellent and when United Airlines cancelled our flight we were even allowed to stay at the house until the time to leave for our new flight. The flight was horrendous - as always is on United - but at least Verena's kindness made it less painful. Yes, in spite of the air travel, we would like to stay again at the property, or to rent other properties managed by Verena, whom we have grown to trust.

We really enjoyed our stay at Hale O Ke Kai. The house is very well equipped and is in a great location. The beach out front is great for boogie boarding and the backyard was fantastic. We just happened to be there during a winter 'storm', so it was really really windy a few days that drove us to other beaches on the north and west shores. The only thing that I would like to mention for others staying in the unit is that the 4th bedroom (double bed) is down the hall from the others and it is right next to the front door. We weren't comfortable with having young kids in the room.

Aloha nui ... Our stay was really special. My mom and Uncle, both hapa grew up on the other side of the island. It was a chance for both of them to come "home" together, and see some of our family and friends.

We enjoyed beautiful beach and nice accommodation so much. And privet pool is very secure for our daughters. In addition the location was very nice, it is easy to access for H3 or 61. That helped us to access anywhere in Oahu easily.

We loved being right on the beach. We boogie boarded or played in the surf every day except our departure day. We loved the yard mongoose and playing frisbee in the huge yard. The house was spacious and each couple or person had his/her own room. We missed air conditioning some days but were mostly comfortable. A heated pool would be excellent but it was hot enough to warrant a dip on a couple of days. We had a Christmas Eve dinner at Benihani that was great. We mostly ate off the grill as we have a few with restricted diets so that worked out well. We loved Hanauma Bay and Shark's Cove for snorkeling and we also watched surfing on the bigger waves at Wiamea. Mostly we just enjoyed the family togetherness and warmth of the season. The house was a perfect setting and everything that we needed was there.

Our families three generations from Santa Barbara, San Francisco and London had a wonderful Time here. It was a perfect place for 10 months olds to 78 years old to be together. Verena was wonderful and we loved your gracious home. Most of us lived on Oahu for many years and this place brought back many sweet memories. The Hurwit Family.

2 families from Tokyo, Japan (the Tomitas and Ozekis) stayed here for 8 nights and had a great vacation! We watched 2 boys (ages 4 and 5) play at the beach, the front lawn and in the pool, and 2 baby girls crawl and walk around the house and garden and felt very safe and comfortable. Verena was very nice and attentive to our needs thank you! We vacation in Hawaii every year and love the Kailua area and look forward to coming back again. This was our 10th family vacation on Kailua Beach, and the first at Hale O Ke Kai. We really enjoyed The home and the friendly assistance from Verena. Having a pool was a great amenity. We recommend using the bikes to cruise around townlots of fun! Island Snow is great for shave ice, & Don Quijote for all else. Please feed all the birds they loved getting our left-overs on the lawn! Plenty of room To all hang out. Verena was super attentive and so friendly! Great boogie boarding, snorkeling, soccer on the lawn and splashing in the pool. We are taking some wonderful memories! What I liked about this house was it's location. The beach was out back and the old pool in the front. Just great for "teens". It would have.been nice to have a bathroom any and.all could use, Internet should work all the time (not some of the time),and the showers were old(step down about 2feet to get in) I'm handicapped so we got a riser for the toilet and showering was very difficult. We had a nice time Check out 'Lucys' for dinner and 'the Healing Hands' collage for a massage

This home is in a great location. The home is clean and for the most part as advertisied. We were very disappointed that there wasn't a hot tub as adversitied. The beach was great but windy. We would probably look for a place with a hot tub and heated pool next time.

Comment by Owner/Manager:
I met with these guests upon arrival; they claimed a heated pool had been advertised on "all web sites". I checked with VRA/HBR and everyone confirmed that heated pool was not mentioned anywhere. I spoke with the guests again the day before they departed; They commented that they had a very lovely vacation at HOK; there was no further mention of heated pool and they were very gracious and friendly. Hale O Ke Kai was so great for our varied family. We were ages 75 to 9 so we needed a lot of variety and from the large lawn, to the pool, to the beach, we always had something to do. We particularly loved walking down to the local market and hanging out. President Obama and family were staying just down Kailua Beach so that added a little spice. Ron, the property manager, was awesome, and needs to get a lot of praise. He was so accommodating to our needs. One suggestion for this house would be a better TV situated in an different area of the living room. We could not gather around this TV spot very easily and watch a movie very easily. We loved hearing the waves crashing on the beach at night, and one night, our boys went swimming at 11pm under a full moon magical. We will be back! The Tell Family Saskatchewan, Canada

Hale O Ke Kai was a perfect size for our family of 7. The layout of the house is set up so you can have people in different rooms and not on top of each other the whole time. Very airy and bright. The front lawn is awesome and the beach access was more than we had hoped for. We enjoyed making use of the boogie boards provided to surf on the waves. The pool was pretty chilly as it is not heated and there is not a hot tub as advertised on the web site. The caregiver was very nice and prompt about responding to our questions and needs. We only ate at one restaurant in Kailua, Buzz's. It was very good food and service. We cooked most of our meals at the house. We would definitely recommend this house to anyone and we would rent it again if we ever go to that part of Oahu. It was close enough to Honolulu and the North Shore that we had day trip every day and didn't feel like we were driving forever to get there.

The location is great, the house was spacious. It was lacking a dining area that has an ocean view. We went to Buzz's several times and the service was terrible. The staff was very confused. The best restaurant by far was Roy's either in Hawaii Kai or Waikiki. I will return to Kialua next year.
Ken K., Orange, Ca8.25.08
This location was excellent, right on the beach yet private. The morning walks on the beach were so beautiful.

Hale O Ke Kai was fabulous! We couldn't have asked for a better rental and the wonderful people that handled the rental were so accomadating. Location was out of this world and the house had everything that we needed. Family and friends came to Hawaii to celebrate our daughter's graduation from UH and it was a perfect house for it. We were able to be together if we wanted and it also allowed for places to be alone. I am definitely planning on renting this house again. Mahalo!

We loved the location right on the beach. There was plenty of room for our multigenerational family. Our 3 kids loved boogie boarding the best. When the younger ones were tired of the beach they played in the pool!
